Waterside Weddings

A Coast & Country Landscape in Hideaway Kent

If you’ve always pictured your wedding day outside – with open sky, countryside and tranquil waters as far as you can see – then The Harty Estate was made for you. We sit in a quiet corner of the Kent coast where the Swale estuary meets wild wetland meadows and rolling farmland. It feels like the edge of the world, and yet London is little more than an hour away. Say your vows framed by these views, with the wedding venue exclusively yours for the day.

Outdoor Ceremonies

The Oak Gazebo

Say ‘I do’ beneath the Oak Gazebo, with the gardens and estuary stretching out behind you. Gather your loved ones on the waterside terrace – it seats up to 260 guests comfortably, but feels just as right for an intimate ceremony of fifteen.

Outdoor ceremonies can be held from April through to October, and the setting rewards every season and every time of day. Whether you’re picturing a glorious summer afternoon or a twilight ceremony with autumn colours and the estuary at golden hour, it’s a backdrop fitting of the best day of your life.

Waterside Drinks Reception

Moving from ceremony to celebration, your drinks reception takes place on the waterside terrace outside The Ferry House, the estate’s 16th century pub. Strung with festoon lights and opening into the Rose Garden, the lawn games are out, canapés are doing the rounds, and your guests are raising a glass with drinks from our vintage carts and icy beers in wheelbarrows. It’s a beautiful setting for exactly that — celebratory, relaxed and the perfect start to married life.

The Estate Experience

The Wedding Barns

After your drinks reception, your wedding breakfast takes place in one of our two stunning barns for 15-260 guests. Hop Barn has four sets of french doors opening directly onto the waterside terrace and Rose Garden, with the estuary stretching out beyond. Spring Barn wows with a stunning glass entrance way and large feature windows that face the estuary, opening up to let the outside in. Both are designed to make the most of this extraordinary setting, and neither feels like a step away from it.
